Part of the enjoyment of going to the movies is having something to snack on while you watch. However, the goodies on offer at the cinema are usually processed, unhealthy, and rarely vegan. But that doesn’t mean you should be left out.
Here’s 7 vegan cinema snacks that you can bring with you to the cinema:
1. Snack bars
Lärabars, Clif bars, granola bars, raw bars, protein bars and raw balls. With all the different bars packed with natural ingredients these days, you’re spoilt for choice. I usually stock up on them when I go grocery shopping and bring one with me when I go to the cinema.
2. Raisins and nuts
Grab a couple of those cute little raisin boxes and a bag of nuts at a corner shop or grocery store on your way to the cinema.
3. Home made bars
If you struggle to find good energy bars without added sugars and preservatives, make your own. Just throw whatever ingredients you like in the mix, wrap them up in cellophane and you’re set! Or use my recipe for Raw Coconut Bars, Raw Double Chocolate Squares, or Raw Carrot Cake Bites.
4. Smoothie
A smoothie might not be the first thing you think to have as a snack at the cinema, but you see people carrying in king size fizzy drinks or milkshakes to the movies all the time. The difference is that your super sized cup is full of deliciously creamy smoothie packed full of good-for-you ingredients. Or try this recipe for Coconut, Ginger & Lime Juice.
5. Vegan candy & chocolate
Stock up on some vegan candy or chocolates when you go by a specialty store. Then pack a couple of handfuls of it into a zip lock bag to take with you, you can easily add other dried fruits and nuts to the mix too. It’s like a healthier version of pick-and-mix!
6. Bananas or other fruit
One of the easiest and most accessible things to bring along with you is of course a couple of pieces of fruit. Sure, it’s not as exciting as candy or chips, but it’ll give you something to chew on and it’ll fill you up.
7. Organic popcorn
Get some organic micro pop corn and prepare it before you go to the cinema. Store it in a plastic bag and take it with you. I guarantee it’ll taste a lot better than that salt and butter bathed stuff on offer at the cinema checkout.
